How many flu vaccine doses does a child need?
A child aged six months to eight years receiving the influenza vaccine for the first time needs two doses, a month apart. From nine years upward it is a single dose. After that first year it is one dose annually, because the strains change each season. Both first-year doses are charged at the member price.
Can a 4-month-old baby get the flu vaccine?
Not yet. The flu vaccine starts at six months, which is exactly why the babies at highest risk cannot be given it directly. What protects them is the people around them being vaccinated, including older siblings and adult caregivers, and maternal vaccination during pregnancy. Is the flu vaccine safe for children? Can it give my child flu?
No, it cannot give your child flu. The inactivated influenza vaccines used for children contain no live virus. Some children get a sore arm or a mild low-grade fever for a day, which is the immune system doing its job, not an infection. A paediatrician reviews your child's record, medicines and any past reactions before the dose.
When is the best time to get a flu shot in India?
India has two influenza peaks, roughly August to October after the monsoon and again from January to March. Protection takes about two weeks to build, so earlier in a peak is better than later, but later still beats not at all.
Is the flu vaccine the same as the swine flu vaccine?
Broadly yes, for practical purposes. The seasonal influenza vaccine used each year covers the circulating A strains, which include H1N1, the strain commonly called swine flu, along with H3N2 and an influenza B strain. Your paediatrician will confirm this season's formulation at the visit.
Do I have to join the membership to get the vaccine?
No, and we keep it that way deliberately. Vaccination is a standalone service at ₹2,499. Whether it is clinically right for your child today is decided by a clinician who is not thinking about the offer at all. The member price is simply available to you if you join.
Can adults in the family get the flu vaccine here too?

Adult flu vaccination matters most for anyone pregnant, over 65, or living with a chronic condition, and it is how you protect a baby too young for their own dose.
