About Mrs. Viniti Puri Shrivastava

Mrs. Viniti Puri Shrivastava is a certified Speech and Language Therapist whose work focuses on paediatric speech, language and social communication difficulties, including autism spectrum disorders. She trained at AYJNIHH in Mumbai and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, and brings more than 27 years of clinical and teaching experience to Lavender Lane. She is also Clinical Director of Gigg's Human Communication Centre, a private speech and language therapy centre in Noida.

Her clinical work covers early identification, diagnosis and intervention of speech, language, communication and related disorders. She has worked with restructured hospitals, private medical clinics, NGOs including the Autism Resource Centre in Singapore and Action for Autism in Delhi, and special and mainstream schools in Singapore and India. She has taught and researched at schools, private colleges, the National Institute of Education in Singapore, James Cook University Singapore, and medical institutions including AIIMS in India.

She collaborated with Emeritus Professor Libby G. Cohen of James Cook University Singapore and Professor Loraine J. Spenciner of the University of Maine, Farmington, to create the companion website and instructor's manual for Assessment for Children and Youth with Special Needs, 4e.

Her clinical training includes Hanen Early Language Programs (It Takes Two to Talk and More Than Words), the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), We CAN Autism Certification (Module 1), TEACCH structured teaching, and the Sensory Integration (M.O.R.E) programme. These approaches help parents support a child's language and communication through the early years, with progress followed through an individualised communication plan for each child.

She works from a parent–therapist partnership: parents are encouraged to observe sessions so they can understand and practise the skills being taught. She also advocates a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of developmental concerns in young children and adolescents.

At Lavender Lane, Mrs. Shrivastava sees children for speech, language and social communication assessment and therapy, including specialist autism assessment and early language support for families.
